SELMA - The Dallas County High School Robotics Club, B.A.R. Industries, won 2nd BEST overall at Selma’s BEST Robotics competition. The competition was held at WCCS on Thursday, November 1, 2018 where the Hornets competed against six schools across the district. The theme for this year’s BEST competition was “Current Events.” This theme was based on the growing problem of pollution in our oceans. To illustrate this problem, the BEST department built their booth with an “under-the-ocean” theme. The booth included facts about oceanic pollution and an informative game to illustrate how “you can be the solution and not the pollution!” The robot had to complete a series of tasks including retrieving garbage from the gyres and determining the current of the water. The DCHS robotics team came out on top with three wins: 1st in notebook, 1st in booth, 2nd in BEST overall, and 3rd in robot.
