Birmingham-Tuesday, December 4th, a group of FBLA students traveled to Birmingham, Alabama to attend the BJCC for a Joint Leadership Development Conference (JLDC). The theme this year was “THRIVE”. They were accompanied by their sponsor, Ms. Dorothy Moore. There were nearly 7,000 students, educators, industry leaders, administrators and counselors attending the conference.
There were multiple speakers in the FBLA conference who shared with students the importance of keeping a healthy social media profile. Speakers reminded students that companies look at your social media accounts and students could be rejected from a job because of their social profile. To avoid being rejected when it comes to searching for a job, the group of students were advised to make a Stem Premier account. This allows students to have a social media account that’s all about business and education. Therefore, your personal life is pretty much separated from your business life.
The conference also provided opportunities for students to discover their own personal leadership style. All students were given a college organizer that will allow them to document timelines, deadlines and to-do’s for admissions and scholarships. All of these efforts will assist students in preparing for their future.
